Attorney Jay Ruane is in Hartford today testifying in support of ignition interlock for first DUI offenders, which would reduce the 1 year suspension down to 90 days.
In Hartford today there is an ongoing inquiry about the possible abuse of a medical marijuana use. Seems to be a concern that people might abuse the law by not simply using it for debilitating illnesses, but seeking to expand to any other illness. More to follow from Hartford.
On Monday, March 14, Attorney Jay Ruane plans on testifying in support of Governors bill 6391 which would dramatically change the DUI landscape in Connecticut. You can watch him live in the Legislative Office Building
We are happy to report that we have achieved a Not Guilty verdict for our client for his arrest on drug DUI charges in Manchester. Despite the state insisting on a prosecution when we told them they did not have a strong case, we were able to show the jury that if they followed the law, they must find our client Not Guilty. A great day for Ruane Attorneys clients statewide!
Ruane Attorneys wholeheartedly supports Governor’s Bill 6391, which would allow the Corrections department to release DUI offenders to house arrest with GPS and alcohol monitoring. This will allow people to transition to a life without abusing alcohol in the environment that they are most likely to abuse it. As we know, people rarely have an alcohol problem while in jail, mainly because they cannot get alcohol. By having them at home, we relieve the financial burden on the state from paying for housing and feeding these offenders, and make sure we get them ready for a life at home without alcohol abuse.
