If you are interested in losing weight, maintaining your health, controlling your stress levels, and more, consider establishing an exercise routine. Making positive changes in your life, even small ones, can help you reach your goals. If you are interested in applying for a Connecticut pardon, any and all positive changes that you make in your life will be appreciated by the Board of Pardons. We can work together to show the Board of Pardons that an exercise habit, although a small change, is part of a larger, healthier lifestyle. - Increase your focus and energy.
How to Implement an Exercise Habit
If you have continually tried and failed to make exercise a consistent part of your life, don’t give up! It’s never too late, and with these tips, you just may be able to make an exercise habit stick after all!
First of all, it is important that you find a form of exercise that you genuinely enjoy. If you are forcing yourself to do something every day that you really dislike, what are the odds that you are going to stick to it? You might get a month in or six months in, or even a year in with this routine, but in the long term, if you don’t like it, you will likely stop. So explore the options out there for exercise and find something that works for you. A few good options are:
- Walking.
- Hiking.
- Running.
- Swimming.
- Biking.
- Rowing.
- Joining a rec sports league and playing baseball, basketball, soccer, etc.
- Winter sports like ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, etc.
- Lifting weights.
- Yoga.
There is a form of exercise, or a few, that will be appealing to you if you give them a try! Find something that you enjoy and start incorporating it into your life.
Another great tip for exercising is finding a buddy to do it with. Whether this is a neighbor, spouse, coworker, or friend, find someone who you can get active with. Maybe you find a golf buddy, someone to go to the gym with you, or someone to hike with. In that way, you can not only improve your health, but also bond with someone in your life. Having someone to do activities with will also hold you accountable and ensure that you are sticking to your exercise routine.
Finally, consider making small goals for yourself and building on them. For example, if you want to make running part of your routine, start by walking for 30 minutes a day. Work up to running one mile, then two, then three, and on and on! You don’t have to go full steam ahead the very first day. Or if you want to start going to the gym, spend the first few weeks having short sessions and getting to know the equipment. You can work up to more intense workouts as time goes on.
